Yarn Dispenser

No more escaping balls of yarn. There was no tension guide on my Bond Machine so I designed this yarn dispenser. I still use it with my Brother machine even though the machine has a tension guide and mast it helps to keep an even flow of yarn.  Depending on the size of the ball of yarn I use either or both, the large eye hook can also be used as a second spindle when doing two color work. My knitting machine table is an old style computer desk so my yarn dispenser sits on what used to be the monitor shelf.

My Materials: A block of wood (mine is 3″x8″x1½”) the size is not critical as long as there is a couple of inches between the large eye hook and the spindle base, 4 stick on feet to reduce movement, the empty inside of a CD Spindle case 100 size, 2 screws, large screw eye hook, small screw eye hook.

Sand edges of wood, attach feet, screw in the large eye hook, attach spindle with 2 screws, screw in small eye hook.

The spindle will hold a cone of yarn or a ball from a yarn winder or store bought. I have saved a couple of empty cone insides that are good for to hold the large store bought 1 pound balls to place on the spindle.

Note: Think outside the box, see what you have around your home that can be re-purposed. I am even finding it useful with my circular machine.
